The city's economic strategy emphasizes the proper use of human resources to allow the investors access to a cadre of well-trained employees.

The city of Kraśnik has a population of 35 285 people, of which 24 103 are from 18 to 65 years of age, including 12 431 women and 11 672 men (as of October 12, 2013). The city has three nurseries and 11 kindergartens. There are eight primary schools, 3 middle schools and a music school. Older children attend four high schools, three technical trade high schools and three vocational schools. Trade schools provide training in various fields, including economy, environmental protection, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, sales, farming, hospitality and catering. The city also offers opportunities for those seeking further education to acquire new skills. At present there is a high school for adults and a technical trade school for adults, which offers training in electrical and mechanical engineering. In addition to state schools, there are also private vocational training organizations.

The city of Kraśnik is located 50 km from Lublin – the largest academic center in south-eastern Poland. Each year 20 000 graduates obtain their degrees from Lublin's institutions of higher learning.

Numerous research and academic institutions scattered around the voivodship offer a solid base of well-trained professionals, who are key for the regional economic growth.

As of November 30, 2013 there were 2 413 businesses operating in the municipality of Kraśnik registered in REGON database.

With regards to the number of employees involved in various sectors, the key areas of the city's economy include food processing and trade. Other significant sectors include construction, transportation, services and financial services. A large number of city residents are employed in the public sector.
